About The Team
Tim
Back in 1998, my wife, Jennifer and I, moved to San Diego to start a company called Cars Unlocked. In 2002 we incorporated as Cars Unlocked, Inc. Then in 2009 we added the brand ‘The Key Crew’, which frames what we do and who we are more precisely.
At first, the only service we provided was to unlock cars, but we were getting a lot of calls from customers who had completely lost their keys. After a ton of research, we invested in our first key cutting machines. I then set out to the salvage yards where I spent hundreds of hours taking locks and ignitions apart. Although I’m still learning every day, to date I have trained over 40 locksmiths from scratch, many of whom have gone on to start their own successful locksmith companies. With all of our crew we instill a strong sense of pride in their work, as well as focused and friendly customer service.
Over the years, we’ve remained on the cutting edge of high security and transponder/smart key technology. Our 14 years of experience allow us to accurately and effectively troubleshoot even the most complex lock issues. So, whether you’ve lost your keys, have ignition issues, or just need a duplicate of your existing key, don’t hesitate to call our highly trained dispatchers any time, night or day, 365 days a year.

Operations Manager
Michael
I started with The Key Crew when it was still known only as Cars Unlocked, prepared to become the marketing manager, but with a lot to learn. Our first order of business was to market ourselves more efficiently and to embellish and further develop our new brand, which we began right away. I took vehicle lockout calls for another 2 years or so to further my understanding of the business. I learned the dispatching side of the business, and then became the company manager.
